Monday, March 14th: Joshua Tree

Woke up super early… not the most comfortable sleeping on rocks.

Packed up and got ready for the trek to Joshua Tree.  Goodbye campsite!

Green cap got stuck the rental.

The Joshua Tree campsite we stayed at (Jumbo Rocks) was a 3 hour 46 min drive from the Death Valley secret campsite.

We thought that this white stuff was snow.  Turns out, it was just some kind of dry, dusty substance.  It was around 65 degrees… not sure how snow would have been possible #dumb

The landscape evolved while we were driving.  We stumbled upon this interesting boulderesque region on our way…

Big thoughts were pondered.

Oh yeah, we stopped somewhere called the “Hall of Horrors”.  See Dani pictured below, horrified.

And finally, the Barker Dam in all of its dam glory.

After the hike, we headed for the best summit in the park… Keys View.

It was extremely windy, and the temperature kept oscillating between comfortably warm and quite cool.  It was a surreal experience I thoroughly enjoyed.

Heading back down from Keys View, we decided to play in the Joshua Trees before heading back to the Jumbo Rocks campsite.

Dusk is quite striking on the Joshuas.

Coolest campsite I’ve been to yet… giant boulders to climb on and get a bird’s eye view of the campsite

Dani learns Texas Hold’em.  We both get 5-7 suited, of red suits.  Weird.

And that wraps up Day 3!
